Where should I start my tour along the Yangtze River?

    Both Shanghai and Chongqing are the most ideal points for foreigners to start their tours along the river. There are two international airports in Shanghai, connecting the city with almost anywhere on the planet. Chongqing is also an important aviation hub in Southwestern China. Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport operates flights to 61 overseas terminals and 142 cities within Mainland China. The overseas terminals include New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Paris, Amsterdam, Bangkok, Singapore, Tokyo, etc.

Is the Three-Gorge Cruise worth doing? What is it like?

    The cruise through the Three Gorges is the highlight of the Yangtze River tours. It is undoubtedly worth doing. Tourists usually start their cruise along the river from Chongqing or embark at Yichang, Hubei Province. The cruise is for three nights or four nights. Ships sail through the three gorges, namely, Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge. During the cruise, the tourists can go ashore to visit some sightseeing spots, such as the White-Emperor Town and Fengdu Ghost City. However, types of ships and classes within those ships are different. Traveling on a boat mainly for Chinese tourists in the “first class” may not be the same first class in your mind. A luxury cruise ship in 4 or 5 star rating is highly suggested, for example, the Century Yangtze Cruises.
